I Still Like Swinging On the Swing!!

Swings are fun, be it a hollow tire swing or a rope swing. I love swinging on swings, always have and always will. Reminds me of being a child. Maybe its the innocence or just the fun of 'flying' through the air. For me swinging on the swings is a chance to lose myself out of reality, to escape the world and create my own. The best part is closing your eyes while you swing - you feel like you're flying. I revisit my childhood whenever i see kids swinging on the swings in a local playground. If you have a backyard with big old trees and if you love swinging then a rope swing is a must have. Go through these pics for more ideas....
If you love swinging and if you have beautiful pictures of swings at your home then please send it to me at artchitrasutra@gmail.com and get featured on my blog. I hope you liked this post please let me know by posting your comments and joining the site.

DIY Citrus Room Freshener...

If you love the citrus smell, lemon air freshener adds to your home. If you don't want to poison the atmosphere with chemical sprays then consider this natural alternative. Lemon air freshener is easy to make with only a few basic ingredients, including essential oil, water, and a spray bottle.

Ingredients:

5 ml (1 tsp) baking soda (bicarbonate of soda).

5 ml (1 tsp) lemon juice, freshly squeezed.

2-3 drops essential oil (of choice).

500 ml (2 cups) filtered water.

Add the baking soda, lemon juice, essential oil and filtered water in a spray bottle. If you like, you can replace half of the lemon oil with another citrus oil, such as orange or lime. Add more or less oil depending on how strong you want the scent of your lemon air freshener.

Replace the lid on the spray bottle and shake well to combine the oil and water. Spritz the air whenever needed, and your new homemade lemon air freshener is ready.

Shake well before spraying.

Always face the spray nozzle away from your face, as the oil can irritate sensitive areas such as the eyes and nose.

I hope you liked the post. Please leave your valuable comments..... I really enjoy reading them.

Vintage Porcelain Door Knobs....

Porcelain was a very common door knob material a long time ago. It was durable, attractive, and more affordable than brass and crystal. There are tons of these knobs on the market right now, and if you're looking for matching door knobs you're most likely to find them in porcelain.

It's extremely important that you make sure that the door knobs that you're bidding on aren't chipped. Be sure to ask because this is extremely common with period ceramic door knobs.

Porcelain is also very heavy, so you may end up paying steep shipping charges for these vintage door knobs. Fortunately, they are by far the most affordable of all of the vintage door knob materials, so you won't end up spending much at all.

Many porcelain door knobs come in standard boilerplate white or ivory. White porcelain door knobs are quite common and are often dressed up with patterns or prints or with metallic accents such as brass or stainless steel. The fancier the porcelain the higher the prices as well. You can usually find simple porcelain door knobs for less than ten dollars however it is not uncommon to find them as high as thirty of forty dollars as the knobs get more fancy and delicate.

Porcelain door knobs aren't cheap but if you shop smart you can definitely afford them and other fine accents.

Fabric painted bags.....

Fabric painting can be a fun and beautiful craft. You can use it to add designs and color to clothing including t-shirts, pants, jeans, and jackets. In addition to that you can decorate bags and totes, pillows, lamp shades, and any other fabric item you wish to add color to.

I painted a cherry blossom on the bag (free hand painting). I glued few rhine stones in the center of the flowers.
Step 1
Wash and dry your fabric. Whenever working with fabric it is a good idea to wash and dry it. This will let the fabric shrink if it is going to shrink and if the fabric contains starch, it will be removed.

Step 2
Choose your paints and painting method. You have a lot of choices when it comes to paints and painting methods these days. Each has an advantage and gives a different look.
Mixing your options-It is most fun when you can mix your options giving you a wide range of style.

Step 3
Choosing your design. You have a few options when choosing your design. You can free hand it. Another option is usage of stencils.

Step 4
Apply your design. For iron on transfer, apply your design by placing the drawn lines directly onto your fabric in the place of your choice. Gently press a hot iron on top making sure that you aren't moving the pattern (which will get you multiple pictures).

Step 5
Paint your object. Go slow while painting your piece.

Step 7
Once finished allow to dry. It is a good idea to let your piece dry at least 24 hours. It is an even better idea to give it 48 hours to make sure that it is thoroughly dry and set. After the paint is dried, iron the fabric on the reverse side carefully.

Step 8
Wash and dry. Before wearing, using, or gifting your new creation it is a good idea to wash and dry it. This will make sure everything is clean and set beforehand.

Have fun and get crafty. If you have tried painting them, then click some bright pictures and send it to me at artchitrasutra@gmail.com and i will put up your pictures on my blog.

Bird Feeders Can Bring Style To Your Yard

You know that it’s spring when you awake to the beautiful sound of chirping backyard birds. It’s fun to watch them busily flitting about, building nests, going through their mating rituals, and even chasing away other species. If you’re fascinated by your seasonal neighbors, you’re certainly not alone. Backyard birding is one of the fastest growing hobbies. In fact, it doesn’t take much effort to make your backyard a friendlier place for your feathered friends – and beautify your home at the same time.

Having a bird feeder in a garden will attract birds and many people enjoy this. Involving wildlife in a garden can make it seem more natural and a more enjoyable place to spend time. You can make you own bird feeder with just a simple coke or soda bottle.

Not everyone has a yard where they can place a birdfeeder. Yet this doesn’t mean they have to miss out on being able to do so. Even people that live in apartments and college dorms can benefit from the use of window bird feeders.

You may live someplace where pets aren’t allowed. You may just feel that you don’t have the time or energy to properly care for them. The next best option though is to set up a window birdfeeder and then enjoy all of the birds that come to feed there. Also drop several handfuls of seed on the ground for the ground feeders.
Unfortunately, there are some non-bird species that are happy to be fed by you, and they don’t care if the birds starve. I am talking about squirrels. If you have ever tried to make your bird feeders squirrel proof, then you know how smart these little critters are.

You can also provide some nesting facilities by strategically hanging birdhouses in the trees in your yard. You may be surprised that some of the birds may adopt your bird houses as their home and return to them every year.
Backyard bird watching can turn into a fun and enjoyable adventure for the whole family if you dedicate some time to this pursuit.

An outdoor bird feeder can bring much joy to just about any outdoor setting, whether it is in the yard, on a patio, or even the garden. Many may think that inviting these birds is just going to encourage them to mess with your garden plants, but in fact it can have the opposite effect. Also, attracting birds into the garden environment can mean that they will start to eat the slugs, worms and other garden pests most gardeners would rather be rid of.

This is just the beginning of the many benefits and joys of having an outdoor bird feeder. Those that don’t often get many birds in their yard will start having a wide variety of birds coming in to take a break, relax and have some lunch or a quick breakfast.

Attract, Support, and Enjoy Wild Backyard Birds.
