Turn your skullcandy into an eyecandy

Tired of boring mono colored earphones? Me too. I decided to make my earphones tangle free and colorful too.

What you will need:

• Earphones
• Yarn or Embroidery floss
• Scissors
• Glue

Steps:
Tie the string to one end of earphones and start wrapping it around the cord. You can also use the Chinese stair case pattern instead of wrapping the string. In the end tie the string and add a drop of fabric glue. Glue allows the string not to fray after you tie it.

 I love and adore my earphones now.

Now you have a skull candy which is eye candy too ;)
You can also purchase new earphones for friends and family and create these as custom holiday gifts too :)

Making torans for Diwali

Apart from crackers and festivities, Diwali festival is also popular for the renovation and decoration of one’s home. The main idea behind the custom of decorating the homes and offices on Diwali is to please and attract the Goddess of wealth, Goddess Lakshmi as it is popularly said that she enters only in a clean and decorated home. Thus apart from the entire home, the decoration of the entrance of a place, which is called 'dwaar', also becomes very important. The beautiful door hangings that are called 'Bandanwaar', or even torans, have special significance as the decorative accessories in Diwali festivities.

These bandanwaars (torans) are the first thing that welcomes your guests as they step at your place. These door hangings not only enhance the charm of the main entrance of your home but also give a friendly welcome to those who drop in to wish you on Diwali.

If you dont want to buy torans, you can make these at home. Today in Crafturday Creative Mess Diwali Special I will tell you how to make beautiful torans.

Supplies you will need:

Shimmer card stock

Sparkles, Mirrors and beads

Gold and White satin ribbons

Stapler

Instructions:

Cut out the card stock into  number  of small squares  depending upon the width of your entrance.

Glue mirrors on to these cards in the shape of Om and Swastik. I needed 10 such squares for my entrace. So I made Om symbol on 5 cards and Swastik symbol on other 5 cards.

Take a gold satin ribbon and staple this card to the ribbon. Insert few colourful beads and then staple the other card. Try to place the Om and Swastik symbols alternatively. You can also add small bells. And your colourful toran is ready.

Tissue paper ghosts for halloween!

These tissue paper ghosts are an inexpensive and easy project for you and your little one to make for Halloween. 

Supplies you will need:

2 facial tissues (white)

Yarn or ribbon (white, black, or orange)

Black permanent marker

Scissors

Directions:

‪1.Ball up one facial tissue or a piece of paper and place it in the center of the second piece of tissue. 

‪2.Wrap the second piece of tissue around the ball of tissue and gently tie it closed with the yarn or ribbon, making a bow.

‪3.Draw a face. Be creative!

Tips:

No facial tissue in the house.....in a pinch you can substitute the facial tissues with paper towels, gifting tissue, or a white wash cloth.

Make spooky decorations......  Make several tissue paper ghosts and string them together with fishing line and hang them high.

Make your ghost fly......Tie fishing line to the yarn around its neck. Hang from a ceiling fan blade and turn the fan on low.

Personalized bookmarks..

Dussera vacation has begun and I have a huge stack of books to read! Picture of a cute donkey is an inspiration for this project. I decided to make a magnetic bookmark using the picture and some old magnets I still had on my refrigerator so the project was completely free. Definitely my kind of project!

Supplies you will need:
Picture, Magnet sheet, Scissors, Glue, Card stock

Directions:
Cut the plain card in to a thin long strip. Fold it into half.
Cut out and adhere the picture to one half of the card. Then cut 2 strips of magnets and glue it to the card as shown in the picture.

Fold over and admire your fabulous new bookmark. I love how the magnets keep the book mark in place.
So easy to make! I can't wait to make them as gifts.

You can even customize these bookmarks by using pictures of your friends and family.

Fabric flowers made easy!!

Fabric flowers are whimsical accessories that work with everything from flirty summer ensembles to casual, feminine work clothes. A fabric flower brooch can brighten up a tired outfit, and a fabric flower hair tie can give a plain ponytail romantic appeal. You don't have to scour the stores for fabric flower accessories. With a few supplies and an hour or two of effort, you can create one, or several, simple fabric flowers.

Take a polyster satin cloth and cut circles in different sizes.

Light a tea light or votive candle and burn the edges or center of each cut-out circle. Rotate the edge of each circle slowly over the flame to create an open flower with crinkly edges. The speed at which you turn your fabric will depend on how long it takes the edges to begin melting and how much you want the edges to melt; the more they melt, the crinklier the edges will become. Hold the center point of the circle over the flame to create a flower that puckers in the center. When burning the centers or edges of your circles, always hold the back side of the fabric toward the flame.

Layer the burned circles one on top of the other, with the largest at the bottom and the smallest at the top. Hand sew a few stitches through the center of the flower to hold the layers in place.

And your beautiful fabric flower is ready.....

Splish Splash!!

I love the colour blue and i love walking on the beach.This photo frame is inspired from my love for the color blue. I painted the photoframe in blue colour. I used glitter pens and glitter to highlight the water and waves. I used real shells and a fake pearl for the oyster to make it more realistic.

Crafturday Creative Mess 2 - Paper carnations

I'm sorry for not posting lately. But during this break.I managed to visit my grandmother. I couldnot post the next article for craftufrday creative mess so i am posting it today....
The second post for crafturday creative mess is a tutorial on making “Paper carnations”. I’m a fan of paper flowers , and these are just too clever to resist.

Supplies:
Tissue papers, Marker, Pair of scissors, Binding wire, Floral tape

Instructions:
1. Take a circular container and draw around it with a pencil onto your folded tissue paper.
2. Cut out the circle, holding all the layers of tissue paper together. Use a large clip to hold the layers together.
3. Color around the edges of the tissue paper with a marker.

4. Keep these circles together and poke two holes near the centre of the circles. Fold down about 1 inch of binding wire, and push the long end through one hole and the short end through the other hole.
5. Pull the ends all the way through, then twist the ends of the binding wire together underneath the flower to keep all the circles together.
6. Now to make petals, crinkle each circle up individually, and try not to have the folds in the same place each time.
Keep scrunching… When all the circles have been crumpled up, you will end up with a lovely carnation like this:

Start to wrap the floral tape tightly around the binding wire so that they look like flowers with green stems.

If you make one then use it to jazz up your gift wapping....If you make about a dozen you will have a beautiful bouquet.
