Craftuday Creative Mess Diwali Special 7 - Decorative wall hanging..

Decorative Wall Hangings are mostly used during festive season specially Diwali. They add traditional touch to interiors as well as exteriors. They are usually hanged near the main door to welcome guests, near the windows to let positive energy in to the house, in the garden or on the walls. There are wide variety of wall hangings available in the market. Wall hangings with hindu god-goddess idols, swastik, shubh-labh or Om symbols are available in various materials like clay, terracotta and metal. Decorative wall hangings give ethnic touch to any place and helps us understand the importance of Indian tradition and rituals.

In this episode of Crafturday Creative Mess Diwali Special I’m gonna tell you how to make a decorative wall hanging that can be hanged in pooja ghar or at the entrace of your house.
I love recycling things so I’m gonna recycle floppies this time. Dont worry if you dont have any floppies. You can also use mount board or a thick card board.

Supplies you will need:

• Floppies
• Patterned paper
• Glue
• Beads, Sequins, Kundans
• Needle and thread
• Images of goddess Lakshmi and lord Ganesha (anything of your choice)

Instructions:

I have used 3 floppies to make the wall hanging. You can use any number of them depending on how long you want your wall hanging to be.

Take the patterned paper and use it to cover the floppies. I chose handmade paper with marble print. Make sure that the patterned paper is atleast 1 inch bigger than the floppy disk on all the 4 sides.

Now decorate the covered floppies using sequins, sparkles or laces. Use anything you like. I added a picture of goddess lakshmi on the 1st floppy and a picture of lord ganesha on the 3rd floppy. I wrote a small sloka on the 2nd floppy. If you dont have any pictures ready do not worry...... just make symbols like Om and Swastik with the help of small mirrors and kundans.

Connect all the floppies diagonally with the help of a needle and thread. I added few colourful beads between the floppies. The wall hanging is almost ready. To hang it in the pooja ghar make a loop behind the first floppy with the help of a binding wire.

Aaaaaaaand you have a beautiful decorative wall hanging that can be hanged in the pooja ghar or near the entrace of your house to welcome guests.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you tried making the wall hanging then click some bright pictures and send them to me at artchitrasutra@gmail.com. I like kind comments too. Please feel free to drop a note! :) Thanks for stopping by!
